South Africa is the size of Western Europe; from Portugal to Poland. And the term Rainbow Nation applies to languages and cultures - very different ones e.g. one wife or as many as you can afford. Where else on ths globe do you have that variety? AND it is the friendliest and most genuine hospitality country in this world! And here in Lalapanzi (Xhosa word meaning lie down and sleep) which is in the Venda, Tsonga and Pedi "area") you can have an insight into the bitter battle between two white tribes. The Boers (34% Durch, 33% German, 25%French) were republicans 1800's French revolution "Zeitgeist" and the Englisch monarchy had two bitter rs. The English invented the Concentration Camp as a need to win this "modern guerilla" rfare. Today that would be classified as "r crimes". Two generations later they had merged into one tribe, the whites. Here at Lalapanzi you not only eat top class meals (and Lala Panzi) but can also enjoy a museum which shows that bitter struggle betwen the two white tribes and makes you realise how futile r is. This museum puts this hotel into a different class. It is small, not overwhelming, about like tching a movie. But it will change your life! Rainbows are beautiful aren't they?
We stayed here as part of our G Adventures tour from Cape Town to Vic Falls in Zimbabwe. We were greeted by two lovely pups who couldn't get enough belly rubs and ear scratches. Definitely try the chocolate and liqueur tasting for
Beautiful property. Owner and staff lines up as you depart (for a group). Old world charm you don't see anymore. Friendly cat came and loaf on my lap! Can't get better than that!
A lovely spot to stop after a long trip. It had everything we needed.
This s a former hunting lodge with some stables that have been converted to hotel rooms. Rooms are sparse but clean. Roosters running around crowing. Dogs and a cat roaming the place. It is very remote. Nothing nearby. Fun bar with Josh, a young entertaining bartender. Staff are efficient. The food s wonderful. Not much to do. Can't say the staff seemed to. be too happy.
I first stayed at this hotel in the late 1970s. I s excited to find it s still there when planning a trip to South Africa this November. Our two night stay with friends s delightful. The hotel s just as quirky and unique as I remember it being. The food s excellent, offering a wide variety of options.||The bar also served a great selection of beers, wines and spirits. Rooms are in individual thatched cottages and were both comfortable and spacious. You can nder through the grounds and may be lucky to spot various species of deer and tch the fascinating antics of dung beetles!
We stayed over on the y to Kruger National Park. The accommodation s clean and had a small kitchen too. Also had dinner at the restaurant which s very good and an interesting tour of the museum. Well worth visiting even if only to go to the museum and learn about local history during the Boer rs.
We booked in last minute and from the moment we lked in we loved the place! As we arrived there s a homemade chocolate tasting happening which everyone loved. The tiny bar has awesome "ye olde English pub" vibes and the rooms are really well appointed. We stayed in a family deluxe room which suited us perfectly (family of 4). Dinner s lovely, and the staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and attentive. We stayed one night and enjoyed it so much we popped in for lunch again on the y home; sadly we couldn't stay again because of work committments otherwise we would have! We'll definitely be mback
When I arrived there at Lalapanzi my destination s welcomed by a friendly smile! The staff assist us by carrying our luggage to our room!
Bad hotel, the food is really bad and their rooms are so ugly. They treat their stuff very badly. I saw one of the white lady shouting at a black stuff, they even used a slur word and I understand the language very well. I just felt sorry for the stuff members and their stuff members are very friendly and helpful. I wish people can stop going to this hotel due to what I observed with the that white lady.||||I wish I can rate them 0.||||||Otherwise great stuff member from people who work in the restaurant to the ladies who works in rooms.
